An alternative to using LDO voltage regulators to supply the different voltage rails on an SoC is the DC-DC converter. DC-DC converters can achieve significantly higher efficiency than an LDO and are good for battery-powered applications.
If you have a relatively high voltage drop in your circuit, it is better to use a DC-DC converter to achieve higher efficiency than an LDO. There are two types of DC-DC converter technologies: standard inductor-based DC-DC converters and switched-capacitor DC-DC converters.
Vidatronic offers both types of DC-DC converters, optimized for PMUs integrated on-die in ASICs or SoCs.
